A marvelous and magical world premiere!
This adventure short-circuits the trappings of Disney ‘Princess’ culture and plumbs the mysteries of the constellations in a funny, fanciful, and poignant hero’s journey about a mother who has gone missing and an astronomer-daughter determined to find her.
Aided by her trusted sidekicks Bobo the Bear and Lamby-Lamb, Constance must first confront the evil Queen Harmonica and her dreaded army of saxophones!
Filled with ingenious puppetry, lavishly orchestrated songs, and madcap performances featuring Open Eye regulars Emily Zimmer and Maren Ward, CONSTANCE IN THE DARKNESS celebrates a new kind of princess who navigates a complicated past and uncertain future as she trains her telescope out to the stars as well as into the human heart.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. The production is also funded by The McKnight Foundation.
