Gay Teddy Bears

Created by FUSEBOX artist Emily Zimmer w/ Sulia Alternerg, Dan Dukich, Jay Eisenberg, and Gradylee Shapiro

It's the late nineties in a Missouri college town where a butch townie works at the Sinclair station when the phone rings on New Year's Day. Turns out, mom called to talk about a magical, majestic invention that came to her the night before. Watch how the world changes as gay teddy bears, queer gas station workers and a mom with mental illness sweetly struggle through it in a story told with shadow and silhouettes to soundtrack from the gas station radio.

Created by Sabrina Diehl

Sabrina feels this deep indescribable connection to cows; which sounds like a joke, and it is, but it is also very serious business. A coming of age story that begins with a literal birthing scene. Wearing a hand-made cow costume throughout the entire performance, we see her experimentation in understanding herself as a serious actress, an improviser, a film maker, and, of course, a lesbian.

With Musical Guests

June 28: Christian Bardin

Christian is a singer-songwriter and theatre maker from Houston, TX. Their music patiently observes that the humdrum motions of our everyday lives offer a window into our interior selves, and strength is often found in unflinching vulnerability. Their intimate Open Eye set will feature songs from the forthcoming album Shorts, exploring personal muck, upheaval, and rebirth through openhearted piano pop with hard and soft edges.

June 29: Mae Simpson

Mae Simpson is a Singer/Songwriter from Beaufort, South Carolina, working in genres such as Blues, Funk, Folk, and many more. Though she works mostly with her full band, She also enjoys getting back to the roots with just herself and a guitar, giving a more intimate feel to her vision.

“Mae’s powerful voice has remnants of Janis Joplin and Ella Fitzgerald, tied together with a rasp of Joan Jett. Brought together by an extremely talented and passionate band, Mae Simpson Music is a ticking timebomb for breaking into the national array of local artists to make it “big.” – Richard Dollarhide (Music in Minnesota)
